Want to be queen for a day? Try an entire weekend! Starting in January 2012, visitors will be able to spend the night at the Palace of Versailles when a mansion on the grounds reopens as a hotel. The Hotel du Grand Controle was originally built in the 1680s to house the king’s treasurer and his family. It was abandoned during the French Revolution and has since fallen into disrepair. When it reopens, guests will have the chance to walk through the gardens drinking Champagne and sleep in rooms overlooking the Orangerie. Talk about the royal treatment!
