Trend Alert: Plywood Furniture

(download)
Charles Eames said, “The details are not the details. They make the design.” It’s the perfect aphorism with which to approach the MoMA’s latest exhibit, “Plywood: Material, Process, Form,” opening tomorrow. The instillation pays homage to plywood’s rich history and influence in design.  You can expect to see work from some of the 20th century’s most outstanding designers, including Charles and Ray Eames, Alvar Aalto, and Eero Saarinen. In honor of this flexible form, we’ve rounded up some iconic plywood pieces. Enjoy!

1. MUJI Steel Pipe Side Table: $88, MoMA Store | 2. Cherner Chair Armchair Natural Walnut: $1149, Velocity Art and Design | 3. Eames DCM Chair: $480, MoMA Store | 4. Mag Table by Eric Pfeiffer for Offi: $179-224, Unica Home | 5. Bimbed Stool: $300, Nordicthink | 6. Tea Trolley 901: $2120, Hive Modern |

I lust so badly after a Cherner arm chair - I'd like eight of them in fact, and have carefully not been focussing on the cost...

I disagree with the "trend" label on this since the Eames chair will always be a classic. But love it all the same :)
